Of course, as far as the viewer is concerned, it's still part of the show. It does draw heavily on Tolkien, but that's on Brooks not on the show. ![]() The protagonists ARE teenagers / young adults, and keeping that in mind, it's actually refreshing to see "normal", when every other fantasy series tries to be all work and no play. It holds onto its B+ movie goodness (+ as the locations are exquisite), and cuts the teenage drama in half, keeping just enough to feel a little real. It's darker, deeper, and better in just about every way. ![]() I thought the sequel would never match it, especially without a certain character. 1 was good if riddled with teenage drama, it was a 3+ star experience for me. Finally got around to season 2 after a couple years break from season 1.
